The picture is looking SW and Vancouver Island is across the water.  There is a local myth that the sun always comes out in the late afternoon.  Today it was true.  But, it did rain late afternoon many of the days we were there.  The tide is high and usually in the Summer it would be a good time to go swimming because the water is noticeably warmer in the late afternoon when it is high tide.
